Where do you start?

Contact a Curling Club near you and find out when you can get some instruction and how soon you can start.

The Nepean Sportsplex is a "pay-as-you-play" facility, with league play as well. The other clubs offer very reasonable full-season rates. Some offer half season rates too.

To start curling, all you need are some warm loose pants and jacket, gloves or mitts and clean running shoes. At orientation sessions, the instructors will have sliders or sliding tape that you can use.

As you progress, purchase a slider or some curling shoes and your own broom (if you want) and that's it.

Granite Curling Club has a program specifically for adult beginners (with less than 20 games played in their lifetime). It is called "Rookies Rock" and is structured much like the youth programs where participants receive instruction for the first half of the session and then play a game. This is its fifth year and has been incredibly successful. In fact, they are oversubscribed and have 49 people registered so far. Contact Brian Gatenby for more information, or see the Granite Website
